Ode To My Air Fryer

Dear Debbie Delicious, (aka my Dash compact Air Fryer),

I can’t believe I waited so long to establish a committed relationship with you. After being on the fence about buying an air fryer for a long time and even buying one and returning it because it just didn’t seem right, I finally met you. It was love at first sight wasn’t it? To date you are one of the best things to happen to me in 2019.  And I really can’t imagine how I previously lived without you.

Thank you for your cuteness, ease of use, and your compact size ( you easily fit on the countertop). I was enthralled by the variety of colors you were available in and finally settled on purple because it’s the color of eggplant, a vegetable that I love and have now successfully air fried with your help, but  But all  the colors were tempting as well.

Thank you for allowing me to cook delicious vegan dishes using little to no oil. I thought I would have to completely give up fried foods completely in order to be healthy, but you are proving that this is simply not true.

Some of my favorite recipes so far are eggplant chips, whole mushrooms, and one of my favorite snacks in the world, shishito  peppers. These often can be found as an appetizer on restaurant menus for as much is $10 for a small bowl! Robbery! I can get a huge bag of these suckers at Costco for under five bucks and many other supermarkets now carry them.  And all I do is toss them in the air fryer at 390° with a little spritz of cooking spray and some sea salt and roast for 5-6 minutes. You don’t even have to shake the basket halfway through. They are very tasty on their own or you can dip them in a condiment of your choice ( I sometimes use homemade ketchup. Please don’t judge me. I put ketchup on a lot of things!). They are low in calories and rich in Vitamin C. They say one out of every 10 of these little peppers is hot. Well the first bag I bought it seemed that 10 out of 10 we’re hot. Then I realized I’d actually, by accident, bought a bag of jalapeño peppers so my bad.

My advice to you is to get yourself an air fryer if you don’t have one already. There are so many great ones available and it really just depends on how large you need and what your intentions are.
